DEPARTMENT: Serengeti Springs Waterpark

REPORTS TO: Director of Guest Services and Retail

LOCATION: Serengeti Springs at the Hattiesburg Zoo- the Fusion Fortress includes nine slides of varying heights. Some straight slides and several with twists and turns, and the soon-to-be-famous “Serengeti Swirl”. There will be multiple water-play areas and two bucket dump stations, all in a design that highlights the animals and environment of Africa. While the Fusion Fortress is the splash, slide and spray section of Serengeti Springs at the Hattiesburg Zoo, the rest and relaxation area is the Lazy River, which offers floating serenity with an accompanying swim-up pool and bar. The Lazy River will be the place to be to beat the Mississippi heat.

SHIFT: Full-Time (Seasonal) - Generally 40 hours per week on an alternating schedule of weekdays and weekends, with occasional holidays and special events as required.

Part-Time (Seasonal) - Varied weekdays, nights, weekends, and holidays may be required. Maximum of 29 hours per week.

SUMMARY: Come splash into water safety at Serengeti Springs! Whether you’re scanning the waters of the lazy river or assisting guests on slides, you will be in the front lines of guest water safety. Lifeguards are responsible for the safety of the guests by overseeing assigned areas. They will be working outside in all weather conditions with the expectation that a proper scan is maintained during their shift. Lifeguards protect and assist distressed guests in times of need, they also communicate with guests regarding safety issues for all areas and attractions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Attend and complete a Lifeguard Training Course hosted by Serengeti Springs for your Star Guard Elite license (company paid expense).
• Attend all related in-service training sessions as required.
• Operate ride attractions within the waterpark.
• Assist guests on and off the attractions.
• Perform rescues and utilize lifesaving techniques when required.
• Willfully perform duties in any Guest Services Department operations at Serengeti Springs.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment for guests and team members.
• Follow all delegated tasks assigned by supervisors/managers or as stated in the Standard Operating Procedures and the Star Guard Elite training.
• Other duties as needed or assigned
