Introduction

This position is located in the DC Department of Health (DCH), Health Regulation and Licensing Administration (HRLA). The Health Licensing Assistant will effectively provide information to the general public, professional organizations and associations and licenses.

  • This position is part of the Pathway to Government Employment Partnership Program. District residents who received a high school diploma from the District of Columbia Public Schools or a District public charter school or received a GED or its equivalent from the District of Columbia will receive priority consideration for this entry-level position. Applicants must provide a high school transcript, GED certificate, high school diploma, or other applicable documentation along with verification of District residency before the District government may extend a final offer of employment.

Duties and Responsibilities

Incumbent works under the general supervision of the Supervisory Health Licensing Specialist to participate in the development of application form for licensure applications of health professionals. The incumbent will also notify licensees in writing, in a timely manner once verifications are completed. The incumbent will also update DC Health’s computer licensure system to accurately reflect the status on the applicant’s application.

Qualifications and Education

A high-school diploma or Graduate equivalent diploma (GED). Applicants must have graduated from a DC Public High School or DC Charter School.

Individuals must possess at least (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to a grade 06 level. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and had equipped the individuals with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Applicant must possess general experience which includes clerical, office, or other work that indicates the ability to perform the duties of a licensing assistant.

Working Conditions/Environment:

The work is performed in a typical office setting.

Tour of duty: Monday-Friday from 8:15 am through 4:45 pm

Pay Plan/Series/Grade: CS-0303-07

Collective Bargaining Unit: This position is covered under a collective bargaining agreement (AFGE 2725) and you may be required to pay an agency service fee (union dues) through direct payroll deduction.

Duration of Appointment: Career Services (Permanent)

Position Designation: This position has been designated as Security Sensitive. Pursuant to section 410 of Chapter 4 of the D.C.
