POSITION SUMMARY
Provides prescribed medical treatment and personal care services, within the scope of the LPN license, to hospitalized patients at Riverwood Health Care Center.
This position provides care for or assistance to patients of all ages, including newborns, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and older adults.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
GED or High School Diploma, and one year certificate from college or technical school for practical nurse.
License/Certificates
Current LPN License or work permit from the Minnesota State Board of Nursing. Current certification in BLS or ability to obtain during orientation. EMT certification a plus.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides safe patient care by maintaining a safe work environment and reporting near miss or actual incidents.
- Completes LPN portion of admission and discharge of assigned patients or as delegated by the RN. Reports pertinent findings to the RN.
- Demonstrated safe administration of medications within scope of practice. Monitors patients pain level and response to medication given.
- Provides basic IV therapy such as maintaining a saline lock, care of the IV site, hanging IVs within scope practice.
- Provides basic patient care such as assistance with ADL’s, vital signs, glucose monitoring, etc.
- Transcribes orders that are within the scope of practice. Able to take verbal orders.
- Can provide suctioning: oral, trach, nasal, and gastric.
- Assists patients with nutritional needs by serving and setting up trays, feeding as needed, and monitoring intake and output.
- Assists with collection and transport of Lab specimens
- Assists with collection and transport of Lab specimens
- Safeguards security and confidentiality of data/information according to HIPPA guidelines.
- Other duties as assigned.
