Position Overview:

The Learning and Development Specialist focuses on instructional design, including e-learning, and builds programs and courses to support employee and organization development. The learning and development specialist in partnership with the L&D Manager works with cross-functional teams and SMEs to support and assess learning needs, design and create education materials, and rollout learning programs to help meet organizational goals. They also analyze training needs throughout the organization. Act as an instructor or facilitator for new employee onboarding and educational opportunities.

This hybrid role (mix of remote & in-office work) will be be based out of our offices in downtown Stillwater, MN.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess training needs through surveys, interviews with employees, focus groups, or consultation with managers, instructors, or customer representatives.
  • Responsible for the support of learning initiatives across the organization. In partnership with the L & D Manager and key business stakeholders
  • Design, plan, organize, or direct orientation and training programs for employees.
  • Offer specific training programs to help workers maintain or improve job skills.
  • Present information using a variety of instructional techniques or formats, such as role playing, simulations, team exercises, group discussions, videos, lectures and e-learning.
  • Obtain, organize, or develop training procedure manuals, guides, or course materials, such as handouts or visual materials.
  • Monitor, evaluate, or record training activities for program effectiveness.
  • Develop alternative training methods if expected improvements are not seen.
  • Evaluate training materials prepared by instructors, such as outlines, text, or handouts.
  • Evaluate modes of training delivery, such as in-person or virtual to optimize training effectiveness, training costs, or environmental impacts.
  • Administration of the LMS (Learning Management System).

Qualifications:

Education/Certification/Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required
  • 1-3 years of experience with adult learning in business/professional environments required
  • Demonstrated experience implementing and/or managing a Learning Management System (LMS)
  • Demonstrated experience developing e-learning for adult learners
  • Healthcare experience a plus

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Proven ability to take initiative, problem-solve during ambiguous situations, use sound judgment, and maintain flexibility and composure during change.
  • Demonstrated ability to work at a varied pace, adhere to schedules and deadlines, prioritize workload and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal and technical presentation skills
  • Skill in identifying and resolving problems
  • Proficient at verbal and written communication
  • Ability to work independently to meet company goals and timelines
  • Ability to deal with change and ambiguity
  • Detail oriented and accurate
  • Intermediate-level computer proficiency including Google Docs and equipment such as iPad, and iPhone
  • Demonstrated compatibility with Bluestone’s mission and operating philosophies
  • Demonstrated ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
