Purpose:

The Learning and Development Specialist will execute key training programs throughout our company. This individual will utilize current company training programs and create new content in partnership with subject matter experts through our company to deliver optimal results. The position will focus on building the “Morris Way” of work as a key facilitator and developer of training content.

General Description of duties:

  • Partners with VP and Sales Leaders to determine Sales training strategy; including the creation of online and instructor led content.
  • Design, develop, and facilitate a broad range of learning solutions utilizing a clear understanding of adult learning theory and a blended learning approach
  • Facilitate engaging instructor-led training (ILT) and virtual ILT sessions
  • Manage administration duties for Learning Management System including assigning courses, reporting, and updating monthly training calendar for course offerings from LMS Schedule
  • Seek and gather information from management, employees, and other departments regarding the effectiveness of completed training courses and constantly seek to improve.
  • Assists with the development of needs analysis and sales training programs utilizing knowledge of specified sales processes, products, and based upon the overall curriculum.
  • Consults with managers to understand training needs for their department and/or employees on an individual basis to provide appropriate recommendations for training plans and curriculum.
  • Schedules and coordinates training events and programs.
  • Follows-up with managers to provide information on employee progress within assigned training courses/series.
  • Adhere to testing and evaluating practices to ensure a high-quality training program.
  • Assists in the administration of our Learning Management System to provide completion reports to management teams.
  • Conduct follows-up with managers to provide information on employee progress within assigned training courses/series.
  • Follow-up with previous new hire classes to reinforce the fundamentals and aid in further development.
  • Assign workshops to classes and ensure completion of courses.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent work experience preferred
  • High School Diploma required
  • Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) credential preferred
  • 5-10 years of experience in instructional design, development, delivery and evaluation preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Adept with a variety of multimedia training platforms and methods.
  • Ability to evaluate and research training options and alternatives.
  • Ability to design and implement effective training and development.
  • Previous retail industry experience with a strong sales/merchandising/buying background a plus
  • Demonstrated writing and editing skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Proven skills in project management/organization with a results-oriented sense of urgency
  • Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to work with all levels of the organization
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to travel between all markets and corporate office
