This position is responsible for leading a team of accounting technicians, and for daily data entry of food service performance on contract, including but not limited to cash, credit and headcount tracking.

RESPONSIBILITY LEVEL:

Implements and provides input into strategic goals for the food procurement and service contract process at Naval Station Great Lakes. Oversees daily operations of team, ensuring work is performed as prescribed by policies and procedures to achieve productivity, service, and quality standards, and goals. Has familiarity with Great Lakes budget and manages team spend to meet budget targets. Typically works on projects and initiatives that span 3 – 12 months.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

1. Leading and Developing Talent: Responsible for input on pay, performance appraisals, work schedules, day-to-day personnel issues, discipline and hiring. Actively networks and sources for positions within the team.

2. Project and Change Management: Periodically serves as a team member or subject matter expert for formal project or within the department. Contributes ideas and helps develop solutions while balancing demands of project work and routine job responsibilities. Supports management in the implementation of change. Engages effectively in change affecting her/him, communicating appropriately with supervisor. Follows through on learning, skill building, and practice necessary to adapt to change.

3. Problem Solving: Implements production and develops best practices. Provides oversight to staff, including advanced problem solving and customer service. Utilizes strong people skills to solve team issues. Resolves basic and moderately complex operational problems, elevating them to the manager as appropriate.

4. Technical Skill: Has understanding of subject matter and demonstrates advanced knowledge of field along with the in-depth ‘why’s’ and supervisory experience. Has interpersonal skills in dealing with management and other departments.

5. Community Engagement: Champions Goodwill’s community engagement initiatives. Is aware of Goodwill’s community partner organizations and participates in volunteer opportunities as pertains to role and interest. Participates in industry/knowledge groups.

6. Prepare and review data for a large food procurement and service contract. Lead a team of accounting technicians, responsible for daily data entry of food service performance on contract, including but not limited to cash, credit and headcount tracking. Implement and coordinate with operations to develop process improvements and re-train based on data received.

7. Responsible for ensuring accurate posting/data entry related to 365 day food service reporting process, tri-monthly billing packet, and A/R invoicing prior to audit by the Navy customer.

8. Assist with journal entries and account reconciliations for the month end and fiscal/annual year end close.

9. Assist with the annual Goodwill Great Lakes budget and contract cost proposal, providing input to assistant director as needed, based on current operations.

10. Accurate entry into the government’s Wide Area Work Flow system for payment, per the contract specifications. Primary support and technical expert for Enabler (government point of sale) system.

11. Assist with Goodwill Great Lakes procurement and monitor accounts payable functions.

12. Oversee cash reconciliation, supervising bi-weekly deposits, and serve as the primary contact for resolving issues with the bank, armored service and Goodwill’s shared services.

13. Audit and validate bi-weekly staffing agency payroll.

14. Maintain and create reports for other Goodwill Great Lakes departments to track and analyze financial information. Utilize this data to assist operations with process improvement initiatives to maximize operating margin for mission reinvestment.

15. Responsible for completing other duties/responsibilities as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Two years of college education or experience equivalency. A minimum of 5 years’ experience, or 2 years managerial experience.

2. Valid drivers’ license and automobile required.

3. Flexibility to occasionally work evening or weekend hours as required to meet customer needs/financial close.

4. Required to pass a federal background check in order to obtain a Common Access Card for use in Government equipment and Naval Station Great Lakes access.

5. Proficient understanding, and of financial systems such as reporting, inventory management, and intermediate use of Excel.

PHYSICAL/SENSORY DEMANDS:

Job requires the following: remain stationary for sustained periods of time; ability to move about to accomplish tasks; must be able to operate a computer or similar technology, which typically involves substantial motions of wrist, hands and/or fingers; visual acuity to perform activities such as preparing data, operating equipment or review thoroughness of work; ability to communicate with others and exchange information.
