Overview

Croda Inc is seeking a Lead Applications Scientist to join the R&D Pharma Data Development team as we drive vital research on transfection, protein formulation, stability, and characterization, and develop new formulation and drug delivery technologies. In this exciting role, you will help drive formulation development and develop data packages to support claims of existing and future products, as well as identifying new opportunities for new products. The scientist position is located in North America and will report to the HC Data Development Team Leader.

Responsibilities

  • Perform PCR, cell culture, DNA isolation from bacterial culture (miniprep, midiprep), transfection, measuring transfection efficiency of developed agents/LNPs (direct/indirect methods) using reporter assays.
  • Perform in vitro cell-based functional assays and cell-based binding assays (including culturing the appropriate cell lines) using standard assay techniques.
  • Train and pro-actively coach team members in the performance of the above cell culturing and transfection assays and engage in the team’s polymer based and lipid delivery-based data generation research projects.
  • Able to run key analytical techniques to measure excipient performance in biological systems
  • Willing to learn new techniques and application areas
  • Plan, coordinate and ensure timely execution of realistic protocols and reports
  • Preparation and delivery of reports, SOPs, and technical presentations for both in-house and external parties
  • Participate in relevant meetings/teleconferences with customers
  • Manage multiple development projects in a timely manner
  • Participate in general lab and instrument maintenance.

Experience

  • A technical degree (PhD preferred) in Molecular Biology, Pharmaceutical Sciences or Biochemistry
  • Seasoned in growing and maintaining cell lines, and conducting invitro testing
  • Experience with bio-analytical techniques and quantitative analysis
  • Familiarity with Croda products is a plus
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Good team player but also able to work independently as needed
  • Ability to work across global research teams and engage effectively with cross functional teams
  • Strong ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work in an interdisciplinary and evolving environment to drive key projects
  • Ability to train or mentor junior staff or supervisory experience is a plus
