General Function:
Performs all tasks related to mask design and layout for integrated photonic devices.
- Creating photonic-based mask designs in conjunction with optical designers and process engineers
- Leading tape-out process for photonic device designs in conjunction with optical designers and process engineers
- Expanding photonic element library within CAD software
- Organize and track all versions of design layouts
- Maintain database of existing mask sets
- Creating a design rule check for photonic mask designs
B.S. degree (M.S. degree preferred) in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field with preferably two (2) or more years of work experience in Circuit and/or Integrated Photonic Design and Layout.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
- Experience conducting circuit and/or photonic layouts
- Experience with commercial foundry tape-out process
- Experience with Cadence, AutoCAD, Solidworks, DW2000, or other CAD or Layout software
- Understanding of DRC rules and creation in layout software
- Must have strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Must be able to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Must have effective communication and presentation skills
- Must be able to work effectively in a dynamic start-up environment
