Job Title: Landscaping Specialist

General Description:

Performs a variety of lawn care and landscaping needs. Responsible for the maintenance, preservation and general care of the Chickasaw Nation softball complex facility and fields. Establish procedures to maintain and enhance the overall condition of the softball fields, including lining, marking, grass maintenance, watering and fertilization. Loads and unloads dirt, gravel, trash and other debris including collection and disposal of waste at the softball complex. Performs all other lawn care and landscaping needs as assigned.

Supervision Received: Work is performed under the supervision of Recreational Facility Manager

Supervision Essential Job Functions:

• Coordinate with Recreational Facility Manager to determine landscape project schedule.
• Maintaining all assigned tribal properties in a manner that is acceptable by the Chickasaw
• Maintenance of those assigned facilities to include pruning and cultivation of surrounding
• Preventive maintenance to avoid damage caused by climatic conditions.
• Set up and maintain irrigation systems.
• Fertilize, mow and weed eat assigned tribal properties.
• Report status of assignments to Recreational Facility Manager.
• Re-sods damaged areas of softball fields.
• Sweep walkways and maintains paved areas.
• Cleans grounds, removes litter and empties trashcans.
• Participates in a variety of grounds maintenance activities including shoveling snow, mowing grass, weed eating, trimming shrubbery and watering the grass.
• Maintains condition and appearance of all softball fields including lining, marking, grass maintenance, watering and fertilization.
• Re works and conditions softball field for play before, during and after games.
• Operate light duty vehicles, trucks, tractors, riding and push mowers, aerators, sprinklers, weed eaters, chain saws, rakes, shovels, sprayers, blowers and other hand tools.
• Light duty preventative maintenance on equipment (i.e., grease, adjust, clean etc)
• Assist with maintaining inventory.
• Maintains protocol as established by the Chickasaw Nation.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Preferred - Must possess the knowledge, skill, and ability to operate recreational maintenance equipment such as lawn care devices, tractors, trucks, trailers, hand implements as chain saws and other equipment. The care preservation of all tools and equipment is mandatory. Knowledge of the materials and the ability to operate equipment used to work

Education:

GED Required - High School Diploma/GED

Training And Experience:

Preferred Experience - Working knowledge of landscaping, and irrigation systems.

Licenses, Certifications, Other:

Required - Must have a valid Oklahoma driver license and be insurable by the Chickasaw Nation.

The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is sometimes very loud.
