LA Testing Inc./EMSL Analytical, Inc. is currently seeking a Full Time Laboratory Technician in its Chemistry department for its Huntington Beach, CA location. Under direction, this individual will be responsible for preparing and analyzing environmental chemistry samples for a busy commercial laboratory. There is a high volume of samples, so the candidate must be able to interact with others, meet deadlines and have the ability to provide technical support when needed. Must adhere to EMSL Safety protocol and guidelines utilizing PPE as appropriate.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Perform sample and QC preparations by various techniques following regulatory methods (i.e. EPA, ASTM, NIOSH, OSHA, SOP).
Review and validate data used for generating final reports and Electronic Data Deliverables.
Responsible for basic equipment maintenance and interaction with vendor services.
Effective verbal/written communication skills, self-motivated, well-organized, and constructive, effective team member.
Familiarity with NELAC and ISO 17025 quality system standards.
Prepare reagents, standards, sample desorption and extractions using pipettes balances various glassware as appropriate.
Prepare Inorganic/Organic bulk samples such as caulking, concrete, wipes, oil, paint chips, soil, and air using EPA 3050, SOP or as appropriate.
Utilize Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook to process data, generate reports.
Maintain a neat and orderly work area.
Follow EMSL Safety protocol and guidelines utilizing PPE as appropriate.
Perform administrative tasks as needed.
Cross training in various instrumentation including; XRD, GC, HPLC, GCMS, ICP, ICP-MS, Mercury FIMS, as required
Requirements:
High School Diploma, GED, or Associates Degree.
No experience is necessary, just a desire to learn technical skills and become proficient in common laboratory procedures. On the job training will be provided.
Experience in a commercial Lab setting using Inorganic/Organic sample handling/ preparation / acid digestion techniques is a plus
Must be willing to work analytical balances and learn good laboratory practices.
Candidate must be able to distinguish colors in order to perform analysis.
Must be able to work independently as well as with a team and work in a fast-paced setting.
Must have excellent communication, computer, typing, and organizational skills.
Basic math skills related to analytical chemistry required.
Flexible to work overtime and weekends when needed.
Must be able to stand and sit for various lengths of time.
Available Shift:
Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

LA Testing/EMSL offers full time benefits: medical, dental, 401(k), voluntary benefits, paid time off, holiday pay, flexible spending account. Pay range for this position is $16.00-$18.00 per hour.
