Niagara Falls, NY location produces organic salts, including propionates and acetates, serving Pharmaceutical, Food, Feed and Technical Industries. With this long-standing and fully automated manufacturing site, Kerry offers world class quality products to a global market. Our products fill vital needs in a broad range of applications that are essential to everyday life including food preservation, antibiotic formulation, dialysis treatment, energy production and more.

What you'll do:

Experienced analytical chemist responsible for method development of ICP-MS system and daily operation of the instrument. Making standard solutions, calibrating the instrument, determining detection limits, determining spike recovery percent, determining matrix interferences with specific samples and troubleshooting. Analysis of raw materials, intermediate and finished products against identified standards and specifications.

Key responsibilities

Develop method for analysis of trace metals in anhydrous HCl by ICP-MS

Daily operation and maintenance of ICP-MS system including analyzing samples and performing quality assurance tasks

Perform calibrations and quality assurance tasks for gas chromatography systems used for trace gas impurities in anhydrous HCl

Maintain record logs of all quality assurance tasks for all anhydrous HCl analytical equipment

Assist with QA lab work as assigned:

Analysis of raw materials, intermediates and finished products

Analysis record keeping

Certificate of analysis generation

Special testing as requested

Maintaining lab supplies

Maintenance and calibration of lab instruments

Preparation and standardization of lab solutions

Maintain test methods

Inspection of raw materials Certificates of analysis

Qualifications and skills

There are a few requirements you will need to be safe and successful in this job.

  • Education: BS Chemistry or equivalent. Masters level graduate student preferred.
  • Required Knowledge: Basicunderstanding of chemistry and analytical methods.
  • Experience Needed: Prior laboratory experience. Experience with method development and EPA analytical methods. Hands on analytical research experience with inductively coupled plasma mass-spectrometry (ICP-MS).
  • Skills and Abilities: Analytical, decisive, multi-tasked, and goal-oriented individual is required with the ability to manage time and resources.
