Job Summary
Under limited supervision, this position is responsible for developing and enhancing positive business relationships with Key Accounts, large customer account management, and business retention and expansion efforts for the utility.

Responsibilities
Provides leadership and direction to department staff in the absence of the department manager. Develops and maintains positive business relationships with Key Account executives and management to enhance communication, create advocacy and build customer loyalty. Leads the coordination of utility services for Key Accounts and acts as a resource by providing in-depth information of company policies, City of Brownsville ordinances, industry regulations and rates relevant to electric, water and wastewater services. Assists the manager in the development and reporting of performance metrics that convey the impact of the Key Accounts program on customers, such as satisfaction ratings, contact frequency, the promotion of services and programs, etc. Evaluates the effectiveness of programs and services for Key Accounts and makes recommendations to department manager as necessary. Leads in determining the impact to Key Accounts of any policy or rate change and makes recommendations too service Key Accounts.
Assists the manager in developing and initiating plans and procedures for refining, expanding and instituting processes for the department. Supervises the maintenance of Key Account records in the customer relationship management system to include up-to-date contact information, electrical load and equipment requirements, rates and billing details for each Key Account. Oversees the development of marketing plans for each Key Account and implements product and service strategies aimed at creating value for Key Accounts. Assists the manager with the development and implementation of a Business Retention and Expansion Plan for Key Accounts and participates with City departments and community entities to support and encourage business retention efforts in the community. Serves as the primary point of contact at the utility for assigned Key Accounts and is on-call after hours in the event of customer emergencies or power outages.
Completes other job duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of applicable city ordinances, state statutes, utility system operations and basic engineering principles. Knowledge of customer relationship and account management practices.
Advanced working knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint programs. Strong oral and written communication skills in English; bilingual in English and Spanish preferred. Strong organization, multi-tasking and project management skills. Excellent public speaking and presentation skills.
Must be results-oriented, customer-focused and possess the ability to use sound judgment to make decisions. Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Ability to effectively lead or manage team projects. Ability to compose and present reports to all audience levels. Ability to be self-motivated and take the initiative to act independently and follow through on all projects ensuring timely completion and customer satisfaction. Ability to represent the BPUB in a professional and positive manner and promote the utility as the preferred service provider for businesses in Brownsville.

Education & Experience Requirements
KEY ACCOUNTS REPRESENTATIVE
Bachelor degree from an accredited university with a major in Engineering (ABET certified program preferred) or Business Administration or related field and a minimum of three (3) years of professional related experience. Prior utility, rate analysis and/or business expansion and retention experience with large commercial or industrial customers is preferred.

SENIOR KEY ACCOUNTS REPRESENTATIVE
Bachelor degree from an accredited university with a major in Engineering (ABET certified program preferred) or Business Administration or related field and a minimum of six (6) years of professional related experience. Prior utility, rate analysis and/or business expansion and retention experience with large commercial or industrial customers is preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Requires a valid Texas Driver License or receipt of a valid Texas Driver’s License within 90 days of relocation to Texas and a safe driving record, as measured by company policy.
