The Joshua Tree House is a small design & hospitality business based in Joshua Tree, CA. We started The JTH in 2015 out of a personal desire to slow down and reconnect with nature. Often as we’ve traveled we found that we had to sacrifice either design or nature in our accommodations, so we set out to create spaces that celebrate both.

Part-Time Joshua Tree Manager

This is a part-time work from home/ remote role, however requires being based in the Joshua Tree, CA area for the occasional in-person guest needs and quality control. The role is on call, paid at $25/hour, and generally requires around 8 hours per week. It's a perfect role for anyone who loves nature, design and hospitality and is looking for a flexible schedule!

• You are our guests’ number one supporter, always asking what can be done to improve a guest’s stay.
• You have an attention to detail, and take initiative to improve the guest experience before, during, and after their stay whenever possible.
• You have a passion for well styled spaces with a focus on sensory experiences—how the room smells, how the linens feel, how the plants and styling look. This all has a great impact on how our guests feel during their stay. You as manager along with housekeeping are the most important team members to make a great experience for our guests.

Managerial & Administrative (Guest Facing)

• Manage all inbound booking requests and guest questions through Lodgify, the Airbnb app and email
• Respond to booking inquiries within 24 hours or booking platform’s requirements (ideally within 1 hour during the day)
• Leave reviews for guests on booking platform
• Field inbound photoshoot requests
• Keep Google calendar updated with upcoming photoshoots

Managerial & Administrative (Housekeeping Related)

• Manages all inventory and reorders as needed with company credit card (many items are subscription based but a few may need to order on a case by case basis)
• Manages Cleaning Schedule from Lodgify calendars to make sure all shifts are covered
• Manages the deep-clean schedule on Lodgify PM for things like couch cushion covers indoor and outdoor, oven cleanings, cabinet organization, under sink organization, dusting behind beds and other hard to reach areas etc
• Ships any forgotten items to guests
• Makes sure housekeeping team are watering plants well and give cactus food as needed
• Manages landscapers to maintain the property
• Brainstorm other opportunities for improvement of the guest experience as it relates to cleanliness/ styling
• Hiring manager for cleaning staff (as needed - we have been working with a great team for the past 5+ years!)

On-site Responsibilities

• Walk-throughs (2x/ month) to make sure guests are taken care of and monitoring for any potential issues
• Keeping visuals of property up to quality check (any maintenance needed *maintenance list below)

Potential in-person items:

• Monitoring properties for leaks (roof and irrigation)
• Meet interested brands for initial property scouts/ tours for photoshoots
• Letting locked out guests in
• Noise control
• Oversee wildlife safety and relocation if needed
• Acting as on-site manager for photoshoots
• Scheduling repairs and being on-site rep (plumbing, electrical, doors, windows, fireplaces, propane, spa, etc)
