The IT Support Specialist will assist with the implementation and support of CarDon's technology hardware and infrastructure, plus support all CarDon's applications and their functionality. CarDon Information Services (CIS) is committed to providing our employees with the best technical tools available so they can provide the quality care CarDon demands.

The IT Support Specialist will work closely with not only the IT Technology Team, but also the IT Application Team and key leadership of CarDon & Associates as well as the leaders of the local long term care (LTC) facilities. The primary focus will be maintaining our desktop and laptop inventory using our HelpDesk tool for remote support and troubleshooting. Other responsibilities will include but are not limited to, desktop implementation, basic networking, network support, server administration and general LAN/WAN troubleshooting, including all hardware, firmware, software required for network hardware. Direct contact with our User will be a day-to-day function so strong communication and people skills is a requirement as well as periodic travel to all facilities.

Reporting Relationship

The IT Support Specialist will report to theDirector of Infrastructure and Operations with some responsibilities to the CTO and other CIS team employees.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the IT Support Specialist will revolve around Desktop and HelpDesk Administration as well as servers/laptops/tablets, etc, but also having some knowledge of the applications that are being utilized by the employees within CarDon & Associates. This position will be provided basic training on the systems that are used, so the Support Specialist is familiar with the terminology and basic processes in case they are called upon while at the facility to assist.

A basic representation of the tasks are listed below. There may be job-related tasks that are not specifically listed, but all tasks will be carried out in a manner that is consistent with the mission and values of CarDon Information Services as a whole.

  • Desktop Administration and HelpDesk Support
  • Assist in setup and support of most CIS technology (Servers, PC's, Printer, Network Equipment, etc) for CarDon facilities in Marion County and North.
  • Provides day-to-day support for employee desktop-computing issues within the CarDon Organization - will require travel and spending time within the facilities
  • Images, configures and installs desktops and laptops for new hires, and creates accounts for enterprise and business area applications.
  • Installs and supports enterprise-wide applications such Windows XP, Windows 7, Office, etc.
  • Performs hardware replacements as equipment becomes defective or obsolete. Works with technical staff during the relocation of network and PC equipment
  • Maintains accurate PC, printer, software and LAN/WAN equipment inventory through inventory tracking software and vendor services.
  • Maintain and support other technology within the facilities and at corporate offices
  • Participates in the development and maintenance of departmental procedures

Some travel may be required to assist with installation and support of the technology at the facilities with CarDon & Associates.

Education and Experience

  • BS/BA degree (preferred) with additional Microsoft certifications
  • The ability to work independently as well as with a team
  • Strong written and verbal skills
  • Ability to solve simple to complex problems and troubleshooting that may result in not only a technology solution but possible a process change solution
