IS Programmer Analyst I
- (3220384)The Elledge Lab at Brigham & Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School invites applicants for the position of analyst, working on the human Virome project. The ideal candidate will have experience maintaining databases and will be familiar with common bioinformatics approaches to data analysis. The role requires strong problem-solving skills as well as the ability efficiently communicate and interact with collaborators from both genetics and computational backgrounds. In addition to maintaining the database, the individual will be responsible for maintaining the clone collection of viral orfs.
The project is part of a larger effort to integrate scientific and clinical research to study viral functions relevant to human health. It will involve combining databases of viral protein function, identity, location, and genetic functionality.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Processes data using statistical and bioinformatics tools related to next generation sequencing and generating and maintaining Excel spreadsheets of the information.

Analyzes data using statistical techniques and visualization.
Performs literature searches and helps to prepare presentations and written articles for publication. -
In collaboration with PI or Research Manager, establishes new and modifies existing research techniques, and keeps documentation/protocols up to date.

All other duties as assigned.
BS or MS in biology or related field
Must have work experience in an academic or public health research setting, ideally in data processing and analysis of datasets.

Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential. Sedentary, sitting, walking, occasional bending, frequent near vision use for reading and computer use
