POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Intake Navigator position is an integral member of Cornerstones service continuum. This position is the first line of contact with the public via phone or through our front door. The Intake Navigator will be supporting survivors as they reach out for assistance. This may include telephone or in person crisis management and navigating critical connections to advocacy and support. This position is focused on maintaining smooth operation of services, creating a warm and welcoming environment for individuals and families engaging in Cornerstone services. This also includes supporting volunteers and various special projects throughout the organization. Completion of 40 Hour Sexual Assault Advocacy training required within first 3-6 months of employment.

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma/GED and three years’ experience in a setting that provides face to face support to individuals or families. Or an Associate degree plus two years of experience. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to multi-task in a high pace environment. Strong technology skills, with familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite of software, copiers, and fax machines.

Hours/Schedule: This position is a full-time flexible position, working on-site 36 - 40 hours a week. Schedule includes working Monday – Friday between the hours of 9:00am – 5:00pm.

  • Completion of 40 Hour Sexual Assault Advocacy training.
  • Understanding of the impact of interpersonal violence on adults, children and youth with some experience in providing direct services in a related field. Ability to work independently and make decisions under pressure.
  • Excellent customer service skills: ability to work with victims/survivors and community partners in a friendly, cooperative, and professional manner.
  • Good written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Knowledge and aptitude with Microsoft Office and other related forms of technology.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Participant Navigation and Intake

Maintains professional and confidential participant centered responses to all callers reaching out to Cornerstone for services, including those in crisis situations.assesses with victims/survivors what they are currently seeking for services and then ensures appropriate internal referrals and resources are made based on their requests. Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of the human services delivery system including community resources, organizations, and services.Sets up appointments with callers requesting services.screens for protective orders and Safe at Home.Provides appropriate referrals to community organizations for services outside of Cornerstones programs.Accurately records all calls in Cornerstone’s database.Attends CCJI and CEES team meetings.Maintains community resource list.Works collaboratively across all internal programs at Cornerstone.

Office Operations

  • Welcomes on-site visitors warmly and announces visitors to appropriate personnel.
  • Maintains security of professional environment by managing access given to visitors.
  • Receives and records payment(s) from transitional housing program participants, as necessary.
  • Retrieves messages from web email requests and forwards to appropriate personnel.
  • Answers questions professionally and courteously about organization and provides callers with agency address, directions to facility and miscellaneous information.
  • Monitors and maintains In/Out Sign In forms for staff and visitors.
  • Restocking materials in closet and informational carts and mailing out requested brochures to those that request it

Volunteer Support

  • Coordinates and facilitates Tuesday night make a meal on a monthly basis, and assists with other volunteer special projects
  • Submits volunteer background checks and assist with Adopt-A-Family, etc.
  • Prepares, formats, types, revises, and combines material such as reports, records, forms, and numerical data, from rough draft, corrected copy, or previous computer versions.
  • Enters data into Raisers Edge – speaking engagements, in-kind gifts, etc.
  • Thanks donors who make donations via Amazon

Organizational Expectations

  • Promotes Cornerstone Advocacy Service’s (CAS) mission & philosophy.
  • Displays high ethical and professional standards.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through learning, training, and dialog.
  • Attends supervision, staff meetings, and trainings as required.

The employee should always request assistance if any object needs to be lifted and the employee feels that their capabilities are such that the specific item to be lifted is beyond the employee’s abilities No employee should attempt to lift more than what is comfortable for them. If such a situation should arise the employee should notify their supervisor to find help with lifting any item regardless of weight if the object to be lifted is awkward or difficult to lift in any way.
