The Position

We currently have an opening for an Instrumentation Technician based out of our location in Port Townsend, Washington. This role reports directly to the Electrical and Instrumentation Supervisor.

Job Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoots process control, and instrumentation systems.
  • Documents new systems, changes, and corrective actions.
  • Repairs and performs maintenance of mill equipment and systems.
  • Contacts vendors and inquiries about instruments and control devices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrates and provides a working knowledge of PLCs, and an understanding of instrument communication protocols, DCS, Pneumatics, basic hydraulics, and NFPA 70E regulations.
  • Ability to read electrical blueprints, P&ID loop drawings, and related technical manuals.
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, troubleshooting methods, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex tasks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software and basic computer skills.

Required Experience

  • Experience with low voltage electrical work, industrial instrumentation process control, troubleshooting instrument loops/controls, and electrical safety practices are preferred.

Required Education

  • 2-year degree in instrumentation with a minimum of 3 years’ experience.
