Summary: Responsible for repairing, replacing and calibrating building and process controls systems equipment and instrumentation. Also performs preventative maintenance and repairs of Fire Detection and Fire Suppressant Systems at the OnSemi facility in Hopewell Junction. Regular work hours are Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Job Duties include:

  • Complies with all Fluor Corporation safety requirements and programs.
  • Repairs, replaces, adjusts and calibrates building and process controls systems equipment and instrumentation.
  • Identifies, troubleshoots, analyzes and resolves systems and communications problems to include repair/replacement of component level devices (e.g. I/O devices, modems, etc.)
  • Designs and installs minor electrical circuits for control and monitoring as required.
  • Demonstrates “expert” status in area of specialty which may include: program troubleshooting, process analysis, instrumentation applications, Scada development, networking, alarm paging technology, panel construction, data collection programs, cell phone and peripheral software programs, IIBM and reporting software programs and or databases.
  • Ensures access, security and integrity of the system is maintained.
  • Performs Preventive Maintenance activities on existing controls equipment, including but not limited to: VFDs, lighting control systems, building automation systems for control of air handlers, utility plant operations systems, site utility monitoring systems, site security monitoring systems and site critical alarms systems.
  • Survey SCADA screens for inefficient system operation, implement repairs or changes until completed.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • High school diploma or general equivalency degree (GED) required
  • 6+ years experience with design, installation, or maintenance of controls systems required
  • Must demonstrate in-depth, detailed knowledge and understanding of controls systems including BAS (building automation systems) and PLC (programmable logic controllers), pneumatic controls and the following types of controlled equipment: motors, pumps, valves, air handling units, VAV boxes, humidification and temperature controls, variable frequency drives, heat exchangers, chillers, boilers and air compressors
  • Must have knowledge and practical experience with calibration of field instrumentation (e.g. pressure, temperature, flow and level)
  • Must have knowledge and practical experience with electronics (e.g. testing, troubleshooting and calibrating)
  • Basic computer and data processing skills required
  • Must be proficient at reading electrical line diagrams
