Duties & Responsibilities
Job Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Cosmetology Coordinator, the educator is responsible for course planning and instruction to learners within the assigned and approved instructional delivery system and in accordance with the department’s mission statement, program outcomes, learning outcomes of assigned courses, policies and procedures of San Juan College. The instructor is expected to create an active learning environment to enable students to demonstrate course competencies.
Essential Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Cosmetology Coordinator, the educator is responsible for course planning and instruction to learners within the assigned and approved instructional delivery system and in accordance with the department’s mission statement, program outcomes, learning outcomes of assigned courses, policies and procedures of San Juan College. The instructor is expected to create an active learning environment to enable students to demonstrate course competencies.
Essential Responsibilities
- Will provide 15 credit hours of instruction per semester with a primary teaching load in Cosmetology or Barber courses. Classes within the program.
- Responsibilities include assessment, service on various college and department committees, maintenance of office hours, and other duties as assigned by the Coordinator.
- Development of program specific curriculum, course guide, syllabi, and other materials related to the program.
- Supervise adjunct teachers
- Performs related duties.
Qualifications
Qualifications
- An associate’s degree in a course of study related to the occupational field is required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the objectives and functions of the Cosmetology or Barber Program in order to instruct students, usually interpreted to require three years of work-related experience.
