Position: Industrial Mechanic

Department: Maintenance

We are seeking an industrial heavy equipment mechanic to join our mining team. This is a full-time position, at our open-pit copper mine and process plant between Moab and Monticello, Utah. Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check.

All levels of experience considered

Job Responsibilities include but not limited to:

· Performs mechanical work on a wide variety of diesel-powered vehicles and equipment, heavy duty gasoline vehicles, pickups, light duty equipment, and related systems.

· Operates motorized and light equipment including pickup trucks, forklifts, and various hand and power tools.

· Changes the oil and filters in Company equipment. Cleans the facilities and performs routine maintenance to equipment.

· Above all, is safety minded and values a safe environment.

· Diagnoses malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, uses test equipment to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.

· Responsible for observing and following all safety regulations with required PPE.

· Maintain equipment to meet regulatory codes at the county, state, and federal levels. (MSHA, etc.)

Qualifications:

· Previous work history in mobile or vehicle maintenance field preferred.

· Can communicate and coordinate maintenance activities with other personnel and departments.

· Owns and maintains all required tools for this technician level on site.

· Understands the hazards associated with equipment.

· Understands the fundaments of hydraulic systems.

· Understands the fundamentals of DC voltage, vehicle electrical systems.

· Understands the fundaments of filtration systems.

· Understands the fundamentals of vehicle fuel systems.

· Understands the PM Service Sheet tasks.

· Can perform lube services and PMs on all mobile equipment.

· Understands oil sampling procedures and can perform these tasks correctly.

· Can perform mechanical and visual inspections of all mobile equipment.

· Can perform basic troubleshooting tasks of all vehicle systems.

· Can read and understand maintenance service and parts manuals.

· Can read and understand schematics of vehicle systems.

· Can perform basic operation of all mobile equipment as it relates to operating the equipment for maintenance purposes.

· Takes pride in his work, organized, and keeps his tools /equipment in proper order.

General requirements for all maintenance positions:

· Shall possess a valid driver license.

· Basic written and verbal communication skills.

· Repair and maintain small vehicles and help with the repair of equipment as needed by other departments, utilize maintenance tracking software.

· Must be able to read Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).

· Shall comply with all company policies and procedures.

· Strives to learn and become better skilled in mobile equipment maintenance procedures.

· Performs routine maintenance checks and adjustments on such things as fluid levels, hoses, belts, brakes, tires, and clutches; changes filters and oil, and lubricates vehicles and motor driven equipment.

· Proficient at filling out daily logbook and service records.

· Demonstrate proficiency at servicing and fueling of all equipment.

· Perform all PM services in a proficient manner.

· Proficient at removing, dismounting, and mounting all tire sizes.

· Pass a basic welding skills test.

· Demonstrate the ability to run all equipment at the mine.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time during a regular workday; use arms and hands to reach for, handle and manipulate objects; lift and carry materials weighing 50 to 100 pounds; climb up and down ladders, scaffolds and other climbing devices; carry tools and equipment; work while in stooped, kneeling, crouched, and crawling position; be able to see naturally or with correction, to safely perform designated tasks.

Pay: $26.00 - $36.00 per hour
