Michigan Sugar Company has an immediate full-time opportunity for a Industrial Cleaner, located at the Bay City Factory.
Job Summary:
To be able to work in groups or individually, with minimal supervision, to ensure that the Packaging and Warehousing areas are properly cleaned and sanitized.
To ensure compliance with customer requirements, food safety regulations and Federal and State safety mandates.
The person(s) who hold this position will be required to efficiently operate different industrial equipment, in the appropriate areas, and will need to understand the uses and hazards of various cleaning products.
Job Duties: Job duties include, but are not limited to, the following.
  • Operate floor care machines and other custodial tools and equipment, safely, and efficiently.
  • Properly maintain floor care machines and custodial tools which include Heppa filters, water filtration systems, dispensing devises, and proper disposal of recovery water tanks.
  • Identify proper attachments and their usage for all cleaning applications.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and co-workers.
  • Work independently to complete daily activities according to work schedules with minimal supervision.
  • Understand and follow written/oral instructions and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Record all tasks completed on a daily cleaning journal.
  • Understand and follow SQF/GMP guidelines.
  • Inspect and maintain custodial equipment and small tools for proper operating conditions.
  • Identify and report equipment, food safety/sanitation and customer issues that need to be addressed and maintained for compliance.
  • General painting of the warehouse equipment, guarding, walls, etc
Will be required to learn and understand:
  • Methods, materials, chemicals, disinfectants, and equipment used in cleaning packaging equipment, food contact services, washroom sanitation, and floors.
  • MSD sheets and their purposes.
  • Procedures in cleaning and disposing of bio-hazardous materials.
  • Proper and safe techniques in custodial operations.
Other requirements:
  • Ability to frequently lift and move 25 pounds.
  • Ability to reach with hands and arms in sometimes awkward places.
  • Physically able to frequently stoop, climb, balance, crouch, kneel, and crawl.
  • Able to run vacuums and floor scrubbers.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and get into tight spots.
  • Will be on your feet all day.
  • Able to work with protection, where noise levels in the work environment can be loud and extreme.
  • Ability to work in an environment with exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, airborne particles, and cleaning chemicals.
  • Must be able to work safely near moving mechanical parts.
  • Must be able to work safely in high places.
  • May need to attend periodic training classes to improve skills
  • Other duties or responsibilities as assigned by management.
