Inductor Design Engineer

SUMMARY

Inductoheat is a leading manufacturer of induction heat treating and forging equipment that has served various industries, including automotive, for over 60 years. The Inductor Design Engineers are essential to the success of our company as they design the inductors/coils, bus work, touch tooling, and quench components used on our induction equipment. The designer will work with the department manager to choose manufacturing materials/methods and must be able to work independently from layout drawings with minimal supervision.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

· AutoCAD experience is required, and SolidWorks experience is highly desirable. Experience with drawing procedures and practices is required. This includes dimensioning and tolerancing techniques. Knowledge of machine shop practices and procedures is required. Experience with automotive specifications is desirable.

· An understanding of the physics of induction heating is desirable but not required.

· Utilizes knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, materials, and other physical sciences.

· Shows dimensions, material to be used, and other information necessary to make detailed drawings clear and complete.

· Writing parts list for designs promptly to make sure material is purchased in a timely fashion.

· Writing engineering releases as required to complete the job.

· Working with outside vendors and shop personnel to follow up on designs as they are built.

· Researching vendors and products to make better and less expensive induction tooling.

· Handle phone calls from customers and vendors to provide technical support or solve problems with manufacturing.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B. S.) in Mechanical Engineering and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and three to five years of design experience.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit or stand at a desk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
