Principal Position Responsibilities:

  • HR Administrator for the assigned Programs
    • Reports to the NASA, ADS, HR Business Partner
  • Proactive problem resolution in support of the PMO
  • Primary EO, Diversity & Inclusion Lead for the Program
  • Tactical & Strategic responsibility of the HR function in the Program
  • Resolve Employee Issues:
    • Vacation Banks
    • Employee Relations
    • Benefits’ Issues
    • Tax Issues
    • Payroll Issues
  • Staffing responsibilities for the program
  • LOA Administrator
  • Assist with Workers' Compensation administration
  • Assist with the Labor Relations function
  • Policy review, interpretation, and recommendations
  • New Hire Orientation for applicable site
  • Employee Communications through weekly calls and emails
  • Workflow Submissions
  • Special Projects and Process Improvements as needed
  • Provide expertise in strategy development and execution, planning, and facilitation of Employee and Labor Relations efforts
  • Pro-Active Approach to On-Boarding and Off-Boarding Employees
  • Pro-Active and Strategic Relationship with Functional Leads
  • Training Facilitation
  • Proactively managing employee relations needs to support an environment of integrity, respect, collaboration, and effective communications
  • Complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the Human Resources field
  • Implement an effective Retention strategy through employee engagement assessment activities and regression analysis of exit interviews.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Provides retrieval ability to produce employee information for analysis and decision making, statistical data, and other employee-related reports as required
  • Ability to influence change and support in an Integrated Product Team (IPT) matrixed organization.
  • Use of HRMS, Applicant Tracking, Timekeeping System, and other applicable HR systems
  • Ability to assess various organizational travel programs by governing regulations and to provide planned routine and on-the-spot training on all aspects of Vertex employment.
  • Knowledge of DOD Joint Travel Regulations (JTR) policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of AD HOC reports and Vertex individual and group travel procedures.
  • Experience in administering travel/expense at the program level or higher. Travel/Expense experience should include travel documents, cancellation procedures, constructed travel, FY crossover, Group Travel, Itinerary changes, City Pair program, Routing lists, Authorizations, and Travel Credit Card program (Individual and Centrally Billed Accounts) employment at the program level or higher.
  • Travel Credit Card Service experience including knowledge of Vertex Centrally Billed Account reconciliation, card maintenance, and Vertex Program Coordinator support functions.
  • Knowledge of current relevant guidance including the Joint Travel Regulation (JTR).
  • Functional experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel applications.

Basic Qualifications:

  • At least two (2) years of experience in human resources as a Generalist
  • One (1) year of experience in dealing with Employee Relations such as legal and regulatory issues, employee conduct, performance management, and policies and practices
  • Experience and knowledge of Collective Bargaining Agreements and working US government contracts in the Aerospace industry.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Applications and related HR software solutions
  • At least two (1) years of HRIS proficiency required
  • Able to work in a fast-paced entrepreneurial organization during a period of rapid growth or transition, has managed a business partnership function supporting a geographically dispersed workforce, and has a proven track record of success in implementing leading HR solutions and enhancing systems and processes
  • Effective communicator. Write, speak, and present effectively. Express ideas, thoughts, and concepts clearly and concisely, making solid cases to gain understanding and influence results.
  • Strong relationship-building capabilities and team-building efforts.

Physical Requirements for Primarily Office Environment Positions

  • Must have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
  • Must be able to work primarily with hands such as utilizing office equipment, computers, and/or operation of machines.
  • Must be able to walk particularly for long distances or move from one work site to another.
  • Must be able to climb, bend, kneel, and stoop.
  • Must be able to be subject to noise, subject to a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, and exposure to heat/cold.
  • May require light lifting of supplies and materials from time to time.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in writing and verbally.
  • Must be able to wear all required PPE (as applicable).
