HSE Specialist - Sacramento, CA (2202056)

Where the Chemistry Happens

The Local HSE Expert implements and manages HSE processes and activities concerning safety, health and environmental aspects on local level for the Nunhems Nunhems USA Inc. sites located throughout California. Cross Collaboration and work will be required with other sites within the NA region. The Local HSE Expert acts in partnership and alignment with BASF and Vegetable Seeds Regional and Global HSE organization.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Formula for Success: You Will…

    Develop effective working relationships with site management, employees, and the Global/Regional HSE community to drive continuous improvement in HSE performance. Support site leadership in implementing and managing local Occupational Safety and Health policies, guidelines and procedures in line with legislation and BASF Responsible Care requirements; Demonstrate experience in the practical application and implementation of major HSE programs such as Emergency Action Plans, Safe Work Permits, Confined Space Entry, Hot Work, Control of Hazardous Energy, Working from Heights, Contractor Safety, Environmental Compliance (e.g. Waste Disposal, Permit requirements), Management of Change and Process Safety requirements Develop effective training materials and deliver training to site employees regarding HSE federal, state and local regulatory programs and BASF HSE policies and requirements and manages training using corporate Learning Management System (LMS).

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…

Education

    Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities
  • Theoretical and Practical knowledge in OSHA, EPA, DOT directives at the State and Federal

Experience

  • Ability to positively interact with persons from various countries and cultural backgrounds
  • Experience in Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel.

Knowledge/Skills

    Proven HSE Experience and practical knowledge of HSE related processes Ability to handle complex behavioral, technical, regulatory and legal issues Analytic decision making and creative thinking skills Good communication skills (written and verbal), able to communicate on different levels within the organization\ Positive influencing and problem-solving skills, and attention to detail Ability to work autonomously and demonstrate initiative and drive Good listening and motivational skills Knowledge of relevant legislation

In accordance with applicable law BASF is committed to pay transparency practices. The competitive pay range for this role is $85,900 - $118,140. Actual pay will be determined based on education, certifications, experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
