POSITION TITLE: HousekeeperSUMMARY Clean facility and resident personal laundry, Clean assigned areas, with the greatest concentration on public spaces.
REPORT TO
ESSENTIAL JOB 1. Clean facility laundry, fold properly and store in its proper place.
RESPONSIBILITIES 2. Wash and Clean residents’ laundry, fold and prepare for clean laundry to be brought back to the residents room
3. Clean common areas as scheduled.
4. Arrange for fresh linen and towels for the housekeeping staff.
5. Inform maintenance personnel if repairs are needed.
6. Maintain and ensure that there is an adequate amount of clean linen at all times, inform REPORT TO, if otherwise.
7. Report concerns or observations about residents to REPORT TO.
8. Ensure a safe living environment.
9. Wash windows and window sills in common area rooms weekly or more often if needed.
10. Carry out other duties as assigned.
11. Maintain an adequate amount of supplies to complete job responsibilities. Inform REPORT TO if supplies are needed.
12. Return all supplies to proper storage area upon completion.
WORKING 1. Adhere to and carry out all policies and procedures.
BEHAVIORS 2. Report on-the-job injuries to the REPORT TO before the end of the
work shift on the day the injury occurs.
3. Establish and maintain constructive working relationships with
co-workers, residents, families and visitors.
4. Maintain confidentiality of verbal and written information
pertaining to residents, facility operations and personnel.
5. Promote The Sentinel of Port Jervis in a positive way.
6. Promote teamwork in providing services to residents.
KNOWLEDGE 1. Full command of the English language i.e. reading and writing
EXPECTATIONS 2. Fire and safety procedures
3. Food-handling regulations
4. Operation of kitchen appliances (dishwasher, garbage disposal,
microwave, coffee maker, ice machine), office equipment
(photocopier, telephone) and cleaning equipment (vacuum,
carpet shampoo machine, buffer, etc)
6. OSHA-MSDS sheets and procedures
WORKING 1. Heated/Air-conditioned, well-lit facility with minimal barriers
CONDITIONS 2. Lifting, pushing or pulling up to 30 lbs., using proper body
mechanics or available equipment
3. Bending or kneeling to perform cleaning tasks
4. Lifting arms above head to reach and clean shelves, ledges and
windows
5. Use of chemicals in cleaning
QUALIFICATIONS 1. Willingness to learn and work
2. Enjoyment in working with older adults
3. Demonstrated housekeeping ability in own home
STANDARDS 1. Residents always come first, and their needs will be met unless
there is a conflict with the needs of others or the organization as a
whole.
2. Employees will not work under the influence of mood-altering or
illegal drugs or alcohol.
3. Neat appearance, adherence to the dress code and good personal
hygiene are expected.
