Ross School Houseparent Description
The Ross School Dorm Associate / House Parent is responsible for the care and supervision of students that live in housing on the east end of Long Island. They provide one-on-one instruction and guidance related to independent living and interpersonal skills.
Dorm Associate/House Parents work collaboratively with other Dorm Associates/House Parents to facilitate the individual needs and goals of our students, currently from 22 different countries. The dorm associate/house parents acts as a mentor and role model in all areas of the residential program and is expected to be committed to the success of each student especially in the areas of social and emotional development. This is a live-in position that requires some assigned weekends throughout the academic school year.
Dorms Associate/House Parents assist with supporting the residential program during the school day for approximately four hours as assigned and are sometimes responsible for facilitating and overseeing weekend programming when on duty.
This position is an excellent opportunity for individuals who want to gain experience working with adolescents, are interested in individualized and exceptional education, teaching, counseling, and mentorship, and wish to pursue work in fields relating to education, arts, athletics, counseling, and organizational leadership.
