This is a part-time position to teach Chinese at Brookline High School. World Language teachers are members of the school community and participate in faculty and department meetings, communicate with families about learning Chinese, complete progress reports and report cards, and have school based duties in addition to teaching one class of Chinese.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Teaching one class of Chinese
• Multi-modal instruction
• Participation in monthly world language meetings

Requirements Qualifications:

• Advanced proficiency in oral and written Chinese
• Demonstrated oral and written communication skills in English
• Demonstrated knowledge of effective world language pedagogy
• Demonstrated ability to use a variety of materials and modes of instruction, including use of technology and access to online authentic resources
• Demonstrated effective techniques for classroom management
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, parents, colleagues and community members
• Keen organizational skills
• Valid Massachusetts DESE teaching licensure, Foreign Language [Chinese], Grades 5-12

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Education
• 1 year of experience teaching high school students
