Heavy Equipment Operator and hands on laborer - Framingham MA Compost Facility

This position will be 50% out of the loader doing hands on work that is labor intensive.

9am - 5pm or 10am - 6pm

Black Earth Compost is the leading full service compost company in New England. We currently operate out of 3 sites in Massachusetts: Manchester by the Sea, Groton, and Framingham. Our operation consists of a continuous flow of curb side collection of food scraps from homes and businesses, dumping at the 3 sites, and sending out high quality finished compost.

We are looking for someone who is reliable, detail oriented, and able to multitask. Our mission is to take waste products and convert them into nutrient dense resource for farmers and gardeners of New England.

We use a CAT 928 and CAT 908 to manage the site and roll our compost windrows. Our screener is a Doppstadt. We will train you on the equipment and pay for your MA hoisting license if you don't have it already. This job is dirty and involves mud, bugs, and lots of scents.

50% labor

• Machine maintenance (regular upkeep like oil changes, greasing, etc)
• Diesel engine experience is a plus
• Basic construction - measuring, cutting, using hand tools, etc
• Learning the compost process and forecasting daily needs for management
• Ok with strong smells and working in a variety if conditions (mud is pretty normal)
• Some weather prevents us from working - the job site is dirt based so we take care to not rip it up in the rain
• Learning quality control for the composting process

• Turning windrows
• Maintaining ground
• Loading/unloading trucks
• Operating screener
• Must be willing to do any task on the site

Overtime available during the months of April through July. We always work to accommodate planned days off.

Job Type: Part time to Full-time (minimum 3 days per week)

Salary: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
