RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides support to the team in meeting the health and medical needs of the people who are supported in the home. Additionally, the Health Support Assistant provides advocacy, supervision, training and direct support to people with disabilities based upon each person's plan. Promotes positive behavior and interactions with all people being supported.QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must meet LAI's Vehicle Operator Requirements (with the exception of overnight and Relief positions). Subject to background checks from the NYS Justice Center including but not limited to the New York State Child Abuse Registry, Staff Exclusion List, Fingerprinting/Criminal History Record Check and the Mental Health Law 16.34. Must maintain OPWDD/Lifetime Assistance AMAP certification.
