Description

Responsible for implementing and maintaining systems to meet environmental, health and safety regulations/performance for ethanol production facility.

  • Ensures implementation and keeps current of process and procedures to maintain compliance with all applicable local, state and federal regulations and permits under OSHA, TTB, FRA, EPA and state environmental agencies.
  • Implements facility’s Emergency Action Plan (EAP), Integrated Contingency Plan (ICP), Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasures (SPCC), and Risk Management Plan (RMP).
  • Maintains facility’s commitments under the sites Air, Appropriations, NPDES, and Waste permits. Completes multi-media responsibility for task driven commitments.
  • Establishes and maintains relationship with local fire departments and response organizations to facilitate their participation in the Facility Response Plan.
  • Maintains and ensures implementation of Process Safety Management (PSM).
  • Ensures implementation of Safe Work Practices (SWP), including providing training and making required changes.
  • Implements site security plan.
  • Ensures Fugitive VOC emissions compliance. Maintains LeakDAS inventory and conducts monitoring as necessary.
  • Works with other departments to ensure completion of Title V compliance tasks (inspections, logs, etc.)
  • Implements tasks defined on Environmental Health and Safety Routine Duties Calendar, ensuring 100% compliance.
  • Maintains Environmental Health & Safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintains Chemical Management System, including driving change as necessary and accountability for budget and relationship management.
  • Maintains compliance data systems, providing clear, timely access to information for routine reporting.
  • Provides support to the site’s Safety Committee Chairperson and team as well as the Hazard Recognition Inspection Team (HRIT).
  • Maintains Environmental Health & Safety policies and procedures by reviewing and making changes as necessary, in conjunction with HSE Manager.
  • Maintains chemical management system including safety data sheets and chemical approval process.
  • Maintains site portable gas meters and conducts monthly calibrations, repair as necessary. Tracks calibrations.
  • Ensures Industrial Hygiene testing is conducted. Coordinates sampling and training with contractor.
  • Ensures systems are in place to provide required compliance and site’s performance for all areas of responsibility.
  • Develops training schedule and provides self-performed training.
  • Maintains HSE training calendar.
  • Maintains all required materials and any vendor contracts for EH&S training.
  • Coordinates Confined Space Rescue training.
  • Conducts new hire and refresher safety training, per the VRF training matrix, and ensures documentation of records.
  • Ensures training is conducted according to the EAP/FRP, SPCC and RMP

  • Maintains (Powered Industrial Trucks (PIP) training program. Coordinates with outside contractor.
  • Ensures all required compliance and performance audits are performed.
  • Completes tasks required for regular audits of permits, regulations and plant performance criteria.
  • Conducts inspections as required per SPCC, FRP, and EAP.
  • Communicates any compliance issues found during audits and walkthroughs and communicates to appropriate persons.
  • Ensures inspections of plant equipment is completed and documented (fall protections, slings, ladders, etc.).
  • Participates in incident investigations as required.
  • Tracks leading and lagging indicators for environmental health and safety and health performance

This position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not eligible for overtime pay.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum three years of experience in operating industrial facility subject to environmental, health and safety regulations required.
  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher degree) in Engineering, Safety/Environmental Sciences or related technical field preferred.
  • Experience in the area of industry, energy or manufacturing preferred.

Position level and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
