ESI is now hiring a Headmaster in the greater area of Southern Denver, CO.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Headmaster is the Master Teacher and Chief Executive for the operation of the School and ultimately responsible for the success of the education of the students in accordance with the principles and requirements.  As leader of the School, the Headmaster must have high moral character and embrace the virtues of a free and just society. The Headmaster is also committed to curricular and workplace excellence in the school as well as operational excellence through support and buy-in of the schools entrepreneurial operating system (EOS). The Headmaster balances flexibility and innovation with discernment and consistency while staying faithfully committed to the mission and vision of the school, as well as laws, guidance, and best practices. The Headmaster reports to the CEO/Executive Director and is accountable for the schools performance to the Governing Board.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's Degree or higher preferred for school leadership
  • Significant experience in classical education and school leadership
  • 5 years or more classroom experience
  • Exceptional organizational skills, and experienced management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, and the ability to effectively articulate information and issues
  • Understanding of the schools mission and vision and a commitment to the growth and expansion of classical education

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

In addition to achieving to the best possible level the measurables set forth in the School Leaders Evaluation Framework, the Headmaster will take ownership of and continuously improve the following, delegating where appropriate:

Implementing the schools Mission and Vision, and Policies

  • Articulate the ideals of classical education among Board, faculty, staff, parents, students, and the community
  • Promote the vision and mission of the school
  • Ensure the virtues and duties of a free and just society are appropriately taught and reflected in all extra-curricular activities
  • Participate in annual professional development seminars

Supporting Long-term Interests

  • Promote the role of the school as a pillar of academic and character excellence in the community
  • Ensure the curriculum and its delivery is academically sound and consistent with the philosophy of the school as set forth in the charter application, as well as guidance from Hillsdale consistent with licensing agreement
  • Promote the schools autonomy to fulfill its mission and vision, including financial autonomy
  • Stay abreast of the current state of education in the nation, state, and locally and promote the schools interests

Fostering Excellence and Academic Integrity

  • Cultivate and reward student excellence and excellence in teaching
  • Develop and promote character education
  • Oversee academic and professional growth of faculty
  • Teach one class and demonstrate mastery as a teacher, to set an example for faculty and students
  • Develop him or herself in accordance with the schools Core Virtues

Sound Management of the School and Faculty

  • Ensure school compliance with the charter and all authorizer requirements
  • Oversee the development and evaluation of faculty, staff, and students
  • Ensure prudent allocation of School resources
  • Recruit the best teachers and excellent support staff
  • Recommend new faculty and staff positions to the Board
  • Oversee a robust employee performance review system
  • Motivate and unify faculty and staff in the mission and vision
  • Foster collegiality among faculty and staff
  • Work closely with parent groups and committees
  • Advise the Board and Assistant Headmaster regarding the management of physical resources
  • Recommend corrective action to address recognized problems
  • Facilitate communication among Board, faculty, staff, parents, and students
  • Ensure the professionalism of the faculty and staff
  • Oversee creation of the student handbook in cooperation with the Board of Directors
  • Inform registrar and the Board of class offerings and teacher assignments
  • Ensure that faculty are uniformly and consistently implementing the academic policies

Finances

  • Set budget priorities in line with the schools mission
  • Ensure excellent oversight of the schools fiscal status
  • Authorize expenditures in accordance with the annual budget
  • Consult the Board regarding extraordinary expenditures
  • Oversee and approve teacher employment agreements
  • Review monthly the ordinary administration of the School, and the implementation of budgets
  • Model excellence and develop School staff, particularly the Business Operations Manager, to meet financial and operational targets

Pay: $90,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
