    Coordinator, Head Start

    The Coordinator, Head Start, will oversee the coordination, implementation, and the provision of educational and support services to enrolled students and their families. The Coordinator, Head Start reports to the Head Start Supervisor.

    Duties:

    • Assures compliance with Head Start performance standards, federal, state, and local regulations.
    • Coordinates program assessments systematically, keeps records, and is accountable across each service area.
    • Serves as a member of the Grantee School Readiness committee and provides program guidance to staff and parents.
    • Collects, reviews, and interprets data collection and creates/provides contracted Grantee reports for review for supervisor for timely submission.
    • Provides oversight of eligibility, recruitment, selection, enrollment, and attendance (ERSEA) of enrolled student and family.
    • Coordinates activities and workload in the office.
    • Assists with the development and delivery of training and on-going assistance.
    • Oversees use of department budget and assure availability of appropriate supplies for personnel.
    • Assists with the organization, management, and coordination of the operations of the department
    • Serves as a liaison between the school district and various community groups and agencies.
    • Provides status reports and projections.
    • Oversees the daily operations of the department, including assignment of work to personnel and monitoring the quality of work accomplished.
    • Maintains a program of good public relations through cooperation with other districts and school level personnel, and through participation in appropriate local, state, and national organizations.
    • Performs any other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    Education: A master’s degree is required. Degree or formal training in early childhood preferred.

    Experience: Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in early childhood, with two (2) years of related management or supervisory experience preferred. Experience mentoring and coaching teachers and staff in best practices; experience in working with low-income families; ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders in written and oral form, including electronic media, using positive interpersonal skills.

    Certificates/Licenses/Registrations: Florida Professional Educator certificate: Educational Leadership, School Principal, or Administration and Supervision is required.
    An appointee who possesses subject area certification but does not possess the appropriate administrative certification (Ed. Leadership) will be given four (4) years from the date of appointment to obtain the appropriate administrative certification.
