The Research Product Manager manages multiple teams of senior professionals through other senior managers. The job requires a broad and comprehensive understanding of the different systems, theories and practices relevant to a function as well as practical experience of multiple business cycles. In-depth knowledge of the industry and direct competitors' products/services is also necessary in order to contribute to the commercial objectives of the business. Requires thorough understanding of strategic direction of the function within the business, combined with a solid conceptual/practical grounding in both the function and/ or area of expertise. Excellent communication skills required in order to influence a wide range of audiences. The job is likely to be involved in both internal and external negotiations which will have a major impact on the area managed, and possibly on other related areas and organization as a whole. Develops medium- to long-term plans and executes functional strategies for a large/complex country, cluster of countries, or business requiring coordination and integration across units. Provides input into strategic decisions affecting job family or function within a region or business. Full management responsibility of multiple teams, including management of people, budget and planning. Has authority to negotiate and make independent decisions on issues/activities that have critical impact or influence on company revenues, capital or business operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Increase service intensity from Analysts to continue to improve broker votes at the firm’s top client accounts.
  • Review broker votes with Sales colleagues to adjust service levels into priority contacts into the firm’s top client accounts.
  • Proactively engage key clients to benchmark Citi’s Research offerings vs. peers ahead of broker votes and make appropriate to Citi’s Research products and services as required.
  • Provide leverage to NAM Equities DoR in managing delivery of exceptional client service, including directly managing Directors in the department.
  • Analyze performance metrics around product, client intensity, broker votes, etc.
  • Interact with Sales and Trading partners
  • Work in close partnership with control functions such as Legal, Compliance, Market and Credit Risk, Audit, Finance in order to ensure appropriate governance and control infrastructure
  • Build a culture of responsible finance, good governance and supervision, expense discipline and ethics
  • Appropriately assess risk/reward of transactions when making business decisions; and ensure that all team members understand the need to do the same, demonstrating proper consideration for the firm’s reputation.
  • Be familiar with and adhere to Citi’s Code of Conduct and the Plan of Supervision for Global Markets and Securities Services; and ensure that all team members understand the need to do the same
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures as defined by your role which will be communicated
  • Obtain and maintain all registrations/licenses which are required for your role, within the appropriate timeframe
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and collaborative working style
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-starter with ability to solve problems independently
  • Ability to execute in a large, matrixed organization
  • Secure and maintain applicable licenses
  • In-depth Markets experience across buy and sell-side firms.
  • Broad personal network across Long Only and Hedge Fund clients
  • Energetic and visible people manager with a track record for motivating individuals to higher levels of performance in prior firms
  • Savvy problem-solver and completer-finisher who can drill down from high-level to minutiae to resolve inherent process and technology inefficiencies with colleagues from Compliance, Legal and Technology.

Education:

Bachelor’s/University degree, Master’s degree preferred; managerial experience
