Position Details

Camp Ozanam’s Head Cook plans, prepares, and serves balanced meals to support the health and wellbeing of campers and staff.

DAILY SNAPSHOT
Under the supervision of the Director of Camp Services and with support from assistant cooks, the Head Cook will coordinate food and supply ordering, meal preparation, serving, and clean up for about 100 people each week. The Head Cook will work closely with the Health Officer to understand and accommodate camper and staff dietary restrictions, including allergies, religious restrictions, and food intolerances. Meal service will begin each week with lunch on Monday and will end before dinner on Friday (program staff members serve Friday dinner and Saturday breakfast). The Head Cook will comply with local, state, and federal health codes, will meet and document requirements associated with the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP), and maintain a high-level of cleanliness and sanitary standards in the kitchen area.

TIME COMMITMENT

• ServSafe Certification - scheduling flexible
• Orientation and Summer Food Service Program Training - June 23, 2023
• Program Staff Training (providing food service) - June 26 - July 1, 2023
• Specialized Training (providing food service) - July 5 - July 8, 2023
• Summer Program - July 10 - August 12, 2023

COMPENSATION
$15-17/hour (approx. $4,000 - $5,800 for season)

TIME-OFF

• Weekday Breaks: 30 minute break between meals
• Weekend Break: Approx. 4 PM Friday - 9:30 AM Monday
