Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Perform all job duties in a manner consistent with NCAA, conference and University rules, regulations, ordinances, policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Four years college experience as a Coach at a Division I school.
  • History of successful recruiting.
  • Knowledge of Michigan recruiting.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A valid driver’s license and driving record acceptable to the University by the University’s insurance carrier.

Desired Qualifications
  • Experience coaching men’s and women’s swimming and diving programs at Division I schools.

Unless otherwise required by an applicable collective bargaining agreement, all minimum, additional and desired qualifications are preferred, but qualifications, degrees, and/or experience deemed comparable and/or equivalent by Oakland University in its sole and exclusive discretion may be considered.

Additional Qualifications

Position Purpose
Administer an educationally sound competitive men’s and women’s swimming and diving program, within the rules and policies of any conference Oakland University may enter and NCAA legislated guidelines, and within the assigned fiscal budget as allocated. Plan and implement all phases of a competitive national level NCAA men’s and women’s swimming and diving program, including student athlete recruitment; scheduling, conducting practice sessions, fundraising, and public relations activities; scouting and meet preparation. Administer a sound and productive recruiting program within the NCAA rules and university policies. Provide assistance as necessary with the general departmental fundraising and public relations programs. Perform other duties outside of those related to swimming and diving as assigned by the director.
