GENERAL PURPOSE
  • An Operations Technician is part of our pay for skills program and allows individuals to continue to build skills providing opportunity to increase their compensation.
  • Individuals at Level 1 have accumulated 0-2 skill blocks.
  • As an entry level Operations Technician, you will assemble products and/or related parts in a manufacturing setting at a standard rate of work based on customer demand and lean manufacturing principles to satisfy the customer and to provide high quality products delivered in a timely manner.
  • The position follows standard work methods and practices safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible.
  • Cross-training in other departments to learn additional functions is required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Gain up to 2 skill blocks according to the skill library.
  • Attaches appropriate label and tags to product and packages.
  • Reads, understands, communicates, and interprets written and verbal instructions, work documentation, policies and practices, etc., which are written in the English language.
  • Works overtime as needed.
  • Completes required paperwork correctly to ensure record accuracy.
  • Maintains a clean, safe working environment according to 5s and department safety guidelines.
  • Participates in HMPS improvement activities within current department or other departments as appropriate.
  • Performs a minimum of 75% of the jobs in the department at the required rate (cycle time).
  • Rotates through the department work stations based on business need.
  • Checks equipment and product as needed, reports problems or issues regarding safety or quality to department supervisor.
  • Regular and predictable attendance based on scheduled hours.
  • Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.

Education/Experience
  • One of the following is required:
  • (1) High school diploma or its equivalent (GED for example)
  • (2) work experience which demonstrates performance competency
Skills and Abilities
  • Competent in basic math skills such as counting, adding, and subtracting.
  • Ability to work cooperatively within the team as well as with members of other teams to meet goals.
  • Demonstrated willingness to adapt to a continually changing environment.
  • Required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms for the duration of the shift.
  • Ability to regularly lift and move up to 10 lbs, frequently lift and move up to 25 lbs, and occasionally lift and move up to 40 lbs.
  • Required to communicate and to be able to see with or without correction
