Pine Belt Mental Healthcare Resources is seeking a Grant Writer to write and organize grant proposals for a community mental health agency. The Grant Writer position is based in Hattiesburg, MS and is vital in Pine Belt's ability to secure additional funding for special programs offered at the agency.

*** At this time, this position is not a remote position. The candidate would have an office in Hattiesburg, MS.***

For 40 years, Pine Belt Mental Healthcare Resources has served individuals throughout the Pine Belt. Through an extensive continuum of care, we strive to enable adults with serious mental illnesses, children with serious emotional disturbances, and individuals with an addiction or developmental disability to live, work, learn, and participate fully in their communities. Our thirteen county service area includes Forrest, Jones, Harrison, Hancock, Lamar, Covington, Greene, Jeff Davis, Marion, Perry, Pearl River, Stone, and Wayne Counties.

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Business, Communications, or other related field required. Master's degree preferred
  • Experience researching data needed to submit grant proposals required
  • A minimum of one year of grant writing experience required
  • Ability to manage and prioritize projects effectively to meet office and proposal deadlines
  • Must be proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong written communication skills; ability to write clearly, concisely, structured, articulate and persuasive
  • Researches new funding sources at local, state, and federal levels as well as with corporate and private foundations.
  • Reads and interprets requests for proposals and funding guidelines from government agencies and foundations to determine if appropriate for PBMHR and how best to respond.
  • Researches, compiles, describes, organizes, analyzes, and presents data and information for grant proposals.
  • Writes and organizes grant proposals. Edits and organizes proposals written by other PBMHR staff.
  • Develops outlines, timelines, staffings, and budgets for grant proposals according to funding guidelines.
  • Disseminates information on grant opportunities to other PBMHR staff and administrators.
  • Monitors status of submitted grants and follows up with funding agencies.
