Job Description


Marion Goodwill Industries is a mission driven social enterprise serving Marion, Delaware, Union, Crawford, and Morrow counties in Ohio. While most are familiar with our globally recognized thrift store operations, we are much more. Sales from these stores fund employment, training, education and other programs and services to members of the communities we serve. In 2022, Goodwill served 5,807 individuals through our programs and services and recycled more than 3 million pounds of donated materials, all while working in a fun and respectful environment.

We are in search of truck drivers to add to our team. This position reports to the Transportation Manager. As a driver for Goodwill, you will be the driving force of critical materials to and from stores and warehouses within our territory. This position is responsible for supplying our stores with the resources they need to give back to the communities we serve through the Power of Work!

Goodwill Drivers Responsibilities Include:

  • Prepares merchandise for shipment to appropriate locations. (Textiles, Wares, etc.)
  • Transport various materials in packaged or bulk form to and from specified destinations, such as industrial sites, residences, or store locations. Using skids and gaylords or rolling blue bins.
  • Loads and unloads donations with use of forklift or pallet jack or rolling blue bin.
  • Collects and organizes donations utilizing space available.
  • Perform donation home/business pick-ups, and ensuring schedule allows for completion of pick-up and customer satisfaction.


Goodwill Drivers should have experience with:

  • commercial truck (capacity over three tons)
  • light truck (capacity under three tons)
  • Forklift operation after Goodwill certification


Goodwill Drivers will be required to:

  • Push/pull/bend/lift/squat up to 70lbs
  • Have a clean driving record
  • Be able to pass a drug screening

Qualifications

The right person for this opportunity:

  • Academic preparation at high school level preferred.

  • Has at least two years experience in a transportation related field;

  • Must be 18 years of age or older, have command of the English language sufficient to communicate with customers, co-workers, and supervisors.

  • Must be able to work independently in a team environment

  • Must possess interpersonal skills with customers and employees.

  • Must possess problem solving skills.

  • Must have a desire to work with rehabilitation consumers, employees, and the public.

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time, stoop, squat, bend and twist, reach for extended periods of time; push, pull, or lift up to 70 pounds in a safe manner.

  • Must be team oriented.

  • Must be reliable and dependable.

  • Must be able to pass alcohol/drug screening.

  • First Aid CPR Certified if assigned by Safety Coordinator (training provided)

  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license, adequate personal liability insurance, and a driving record acceptable to Goodwill’s insurance provider.
