Job Summary

Provide Electric Distribution, Substation and Transmission with research, analysis, extraction and presentment of modeled geospatial and associated attribute asset data to all levels of DVP and Dominion organizations.

Performs queries with report summation to address a wide range of operational data inquiries including an asset's geospatial reference, attribution, and/or hierarchical connectivity. Interprets modeled asset data in a GIS production environment against a wide range of geospatial data sources to correct and/or validate records prior to publishing. Deliverables include geospatial maps, web and mobile applications, engineering data extracts, asset model builds, data analytics, and other GIS solutions.

As appropriate, provides technical support and education for users of GIS applications. Serves on project teams, as needed, to provide geospatial value to projects and decisions. Continues to develop technical knowledge and proficiency in GIS field and in use of GIS software.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities and experience required for entry into this job include the following:

GIS Specialist I:
1-2 years directly related experience or preferred degree;
Basic knowledge of utility distribution systems;
Prefer knowledge of network model connectivity and GIS and electric symbology;
Basic knowledge of electric schematic hierarchy and Work Manager;
Developing knowledge of ArcGIS software or ArcFM Designer

GIS Specialist II:
3+ years directly related experience or preferred degree;
Advanced knowledge of utility distribution systems;
Basic knowledge of geospatial concepts;
Full knowledge of network model connectivity and GIS & electric symbology;
Basic knowledge of electric schematic hierarchy, circuit operational one-lines and Work Manager;
Advanced knowledge of ArcGIS software, ArcFM, database applications;

GIS Specialist III:
5+ years directly related experience or preferred degree;
Advanced knowledge of utility distribution systems;
In-depth knowledge of geospatial concepts;
In-depth knowledge of network model connectivity and GIS & electric symbology;
Solid knowledge of electric schematic hierarchy, circuit operational one-lines and Work Manager;
Advanced knowledge of ArcGIS software, ArcFM, database applications, and programming code languages;

All three titles:
Problem-solving skills; ability to address multiple tasks simultaneously; ability to handle changing and emerging priorities;
Ability to interpret aerial photographs;
Strong interpersonal, customer service, verbal and written communication skills

Education Requirements

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and directly related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:

Bachelor

Directly related experience includes GIS database or mapping systems, Drafting, Construction Inspection or Survey

Disciplines Preferred:

Computer Science, Drafting & Design, Engineering Technology, Geographical Technology, Geography

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description
