Surdex Corporation is seeking to add a full-time LiDAR Technician to our 3D Mapping team. The ideal candidate will be ready to join a winning team focused on quality, efficiency and continual learning.

The LiDAR Technician is directly involved in the production of LIDAR data (point cloud processing, classification, reporting standards, feature extraction and calibration) to ensure products meet or exceed customer expectations.

Essential Duties of the Ortho Technician position

• Run classification macros on project datasets.
• Edit/clean LAS files to create BE (Bare Earth) surfaces.
• Edit/clean base LAS files to create fully classified LAS files.
• Extract hydrological features from LAS files.
• Perform peer Quality Control (QC) on classified datasets.
• Project setup, including incorporating boundaries, tiles, and macro catalogs.
• Implement QC measures, including accuracy checks, classification, etc.
• Ensures all work meets quality standards of first-time client acceptance and on-time final delivery.
• Maintains up to date status reporting and tracking on all projects.

Education, Experience and Skills:

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in GIS, Remote Sensing, Earth Sciences, or related field (will accept commensurate combination of education and experience).
• 1+ years' airborne LIDAR production, classification, and editing experience.
• Proficiency with mapping software including TerraSolid and Microstation.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Problem solving and analytical skills.
• Strong detail orientation and commitment to quality.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Adaptable to changing schedules and priorities based on client needs.

Preferred:

• 1+ years' airborne LIDAR production, classification, and editing experience.
• Familiarity with and ability to learn GeoCue, LasTools, and ArcGIS.

Essential Physical Requirements:

• Visual acuity - normal color vision in low light and 3-D Stereo vision.
• Able to sit and focus on imagery on a computer monitor for long periods of time.
• Able to occasionally lift 50 pounds from floor to waist height.
• Manual dexterity as needed to use accepted tools of management, i.e., computers, computer monitors, mouse, keyboard.
