Job Summary
The Pediatric Genetics & Metabolism service seeks a genetic counselor to support patients, families, and our vibrant team. The genetic counselor will join a genetic counseling team of three certified genetic counselors and a genetic counselor assistant. Under the supervision of a licensed and certified genetic counselor or physician, the person in this position will provide genetic counseling and education to pediatric and adult patients both independently and collaboratively with physicians and advanced practice providers in ambulatory and in-patient settings. Patients are seen in person and via telehealth. The genetic counselor will contribute to patient care coordination through referral triage, clinic preparation, and follow up planning. This role also involves interactions with professionals at UK HealthCare and the larger community to promote appropriate and equitable delivery of genetic services.
This position has been identified as supporting UK HealthCare, which receives funding from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Therefore, all individuals hired into this position must comply with the federal CMS mandate issued in March of 2022. This mandate requires all new hires to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or obtain an approved medical or religious exemption as a condition of employment. Start of employment cannot occur until two weeks after receiving the full COVID-19 vaccination series or upon obtaining an approved exemption. Only vaccines approved by the World Health Organization can be accepted.
