Alliant Energy has an outstanding opportunity to join our team as a Generation Maintenance Specialist in Marshalltown and Clear Lake, IA! In this critical role, you will perform various asset care and work order functions for generating facilities including sourcing supplies and contractors, scheduling activities, overseeing schedule execution, and updating the asset management system and other documentation. This position will work at the Marshalltown Generating Station and Emery Generating Station.

  • For non-bargaining positions, generally employees must have a minimum of 12 months of consecutive employment with the company
  • Residency Requirement: 45 minutes to either the Marshalltown Generating Station or the Emery Generating Station.
  • This position can by hybrid with a mix of working from home and in the office once completed with training.
  • Potential Travel up to 50% within the IPL territory. Additional travel may be required for training, conferences and meetings.
  • Position will report to both Chris Braye and James Fleming
  • This position is posted both internally and externally.
  • Positions come down at 11:00pm on deadline date.

What you will do
  • Plans the asset care for the plant after determining priorities and scope. Establishes the scope of the asset care required. Prepares cost estimates for the asset care.
  • Requisitions and schedules the materials and resources required to do asset care activities.
  • Coordinates with various personnel to optimize planning and scheduling effectiveness.
  • Schedules on-line and outage asset care work for cost-effective use of internal and external resources.
  • Modifies existing schedules to incorporate high priority emergent work.
  • Oversees scheduled and unscheduled asset care activities of internal and external resources.
  • Approves charges from outside entities related to scheduled asset care activities.
  • Monitors and reviews work order backlog.
  • Maintains equipment database information and structure.
  • Works with engineering personnel or other subject matter experts to develop equipment standards that incorporate predictive and preventive maintenance practices and procedures.
  • Enters and modifies asset, preventive maintenance tasks, job plan and work order information in the asset management system.
  • Provides training related to the asset management system and items related to asset care activities.
  • Ensures appropriate documentation is complete, including necessary drawing updates and entry of new materials into the document management system.
  • Compiles, evaluates and interprets information and communicates feedback, prepares reports and summaries.
  • Performs other duties which are similar, related, or incidental to this position.
Education Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree Emphasis in the electrical or mechanical or maintenance or construction related field Preferred

Required Experience
  • 4 years of technical, mechanical, electrical craft or construction management experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Demonstrated strong knowledge of overall plant systems, operation and maintenance practices.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal and leadership skills with effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to use computer software programs (e.g., e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, and project management).
  • Basic understanding of the company's asset management and materials management systems helpful.
  • Demonstrated ability to accomplish work through cooperation and coordination with others.
  • Demonstrated to be a self-starter who requires minimum direction.
  • Demonstrated decision-making and problem-solving skills, and strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple assignments at one time.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and manuals.
  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse work environment.
