REPORTS TO: CONTROLLER

SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Controller, the General Ledger Accountant is responsible for performing all general accounting functions, including preparing journal entries, month and quarterly accruals and close, and general ledger (GL) account reconciliations; complies with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) controls by ensuring that regulations are adhered to; assists with the preparation of budgets and forecasts. This position is located in Milpitas, California.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs all general ledger accounting functions, including preparing journal entries, month and quarterly accruals and close
  • Prepares GL account reconciliations, yearend audits, and required reports
  • Complies with SOX by ensuring that appropriate controls are in place and adhered to
  • Assists with the preparation of budgets and forecasts by analyzing data (budget/actual), preparing reports, and performing basic financial modeling
  • Performs Accounts Receivable (A/R) activities, including collecting bad debts, write-offs, receiving payments/deposits, and updating account activity
  • Reviews, edits, and documents GL processes and procedures and recommends methods for increasing operational efficiency
  • Manages fixed asset records and performs annual fixed asset count
  • Manages inventory (Finished Goods, Work in Progress, and Raw Materials)
  • Reviews, prepares, and files reports for various governmental agencies
  • Adheres to all safety policies and procedures as required
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level*

Job Requirements:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance, and/or equivalent relevant experience
  • Three years of experience working in general ledger accounting in a high tech environment
  • Hands’ on experience using PeopleSoft or other similar financial accounting application
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of general ledger accounting processes and procedures
  • Knowledge of and ability to comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
  • Knowledge of and ability to comply with SOX requirements and controls
  • Knowledge of and ability to comply with established safety procedures
  • Knowledge of A/P, A/R, Payroll and collection procedures
  • Knowledge of and ability to use Microsoft Office applications to create spreadsheets, presentations, and Word documents
  • Skilled at analyzing data and creating reports or charts
  • Skilled at taking initiative to improve processes or practices
  • Able to work effectively with all levels of management and employees
  • Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of employees and management
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with individuals, teams, and departments
  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership of tasks and ensures timely completion
  • Demonstrated time management and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines

The annual base salary for this full-time position is between $74,417.50-$109,437.60 + bonus target + benefits. Within the range the individual pay may differ depending on additional factors including job responsibilities, job related knowledge, skills, abilities, education, and experience. The annual base pay range shown is subject to change and may be modified periodically.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

General Ledger Accountant works primarily in an office environment from Monday thru Friday. The schedule maybe altered from time-to-time to meet business or operational needs; may travel from building-to-building as needed. Spends a majority of time in a seated position, but occasionally stands and walks; performs various fine grasping movements, bends and twists; operates a computer and enters information using a keyboard, operates a telephone, and other office equipment. May occasionally be required to push, pull, or lift up to 10 pounds.
