Job Description and Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the company’s Compliance and ethics program, and assist with.
    • Advise on all legal issues
    • Oversee and respond to all DOI complaints
    • Stay abreast of changing regulations and maintain compliance with federal, state and local regulations
    • Participate in audit review
    • Oversee and respond to document or data submissions requested from Government authorities
    • Provide continuing counsel and guidance on legal matters and on legal implications of all matters
    • Providing legal counsel and assistance on a wide variety of corporate and commercial legal matters
  • Involved in legal matters pertaining to Human Resources and General Affairs
    • Update Annual Employee Handbook for CA, HI, and NY
    • Sexual Harassment Training for employees
    • Advise of COVID related legislation/additional leave
    • Approve and Advise all Medical/Disability Leave and Accommodation Requests
    • Review and revise all Employment and Termination/Severance contracts
    • Keep abreast of any and all new Employment & Labor Law legislation
  • Deal with Property & Casualty and Auto litigation cases.
    • Manage TPA adjusters and external defense counsel directly handling DB claims/cases.
    • Evaluate the value of cases, identifying and implementing effective strategies.
    • Reviewing legal invoices
  • Review contracts and agreement for all departments

Job Qualifications:

  • Over 5 years’ experience in a mid-size or large law firm,
    or 10 years’ experience in Property & Casualty or Commercial Auto insurance cases as an in-house attorney for insurance carriers.
  • JD degree.
  • Admission to the Bar in good standing in the State of CA.
  • Some management experience overseeing the work of others.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite as well as other business-related software.
  • Capable in building and maintaining positive relationships through teamwork.
  • Experience in the Property & Casualty insurance industry preferred.
  • Fluent bilingual preferred (English/Korean)
