Our Secure Information Systems (SIS) Department works to protect information. With more than 100 NSA certified products, we are broadly engaged across all aspects of information transmission, delivering innovative solutions that span space, ground, airborne, shipboard, government, civil, and commercial customers. Our engineers design, develop and test products that protect information up to the highest level of national security, focusing on data encryption/decryption and cybersecurity. We have a need for an FPGA/ASIC Design Engineer in El Segundo, CA or Fullerton, CA. This is not an internship. You must have previous work experience in ASIC or FPGA design.

Security Clearance: This position requires active Secret clearance on day one of employment. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

Responsibilities:

  • Architecture, design, development, integration, and test of FPGA firmware for network security appliances; including cryptographic algorithms, low and high-speed interface protocols, management interfaces and security features.

  • Work closely with a team of software, firmware, and systems engineers to ensure firmware implementations meet the product requirements.

  • Perform design entry in VHDL and/or Verilog and functional verification in Modelsim/Questa, with a strong emphasis on creating reusable and maintainable designs.

  • Comprehensive unit test of implementations via simulation and emulation to achieve high-confidence designs.

  • Perform logic synthesis, static timing analysis and place & route within the Xilinx or Altera FPGA design flows.

  • Support software and system integration and test efforts.

  • Resolve issues found during engineering test in a timely manner, accounting for program and schedule risk when identifying the best solution.

Qualifications you must have:

  • Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of ASIC or FPGA design experience in a work environment.

  • Familiar with Modelsim / Questa for simulation and code coverage analysis

  • Familiar with Xilinx and/or Altera FPGA design flows for synthesis, place and route, and timing analysis.

  • Strong documentation skills,

  • Strong organization, coordination, planning and teaming skills

Qualifications we value:

  • Familiar with Xilinx UltraScale+ MPSocs architecture

  • Ability to derive firmware requirements from system level requirements and design specifications.

  • Comfortable working with hardware for unit test and troubleshooting.

  • Familiarity with Ethernet (MACs, PHYs, protocols)

Required Education:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, other related discipline.

The salary range for this role is 94,000 USD - 196,000 USD; however, Raytheon Technologies considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills.
