FITNESS CENTER MONITOR

Job Summary: The Fitness Center Monitor is responsible for maintaining a safe and comfortable workout environment. Monitors will ensure member and guest adherence to current rules for the use of the Fitness Center as well as assist guest in proper use of exercise equipment. Our goal is to maintain an orderly and positive atmosphere at Old Town Hot Springs.

• $15 – $18 per hour, based on experience
• Schedule: Part-time; 2:00 - 5:00 PM, weekday. Hours subject to change. Option to work in other departments as well for additional hours. Ex. Front Desk Attendant

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Monitor the fitness center and Functional Room during peak usage hours.
• Encourage members to attend orientations, attend suitable classes targeted for them and to be aware of other members in the shared space.
• Communicate with guest to prevent congregating, horseplay, overuse of cell phone, and other inappropriate behavior.
• Assist with maintaining the cleanliness of the Fitness Center. Cleaning machines, equipment, and floors - attending to the towels in the hampers and replacing towels as needed.
• Survey locker room to maintain order as needed.
• Assist guest when they need help with machine usage.
• Provide first aid assistance when necessary.
• Follow procedures for emergency situations.
• Inform members of current Fitness Center rules and requirements.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Ability to approach and communicate with members in a confident manner to maintain the proper decorum in our gym setting.
• Previous gym or fitness work experience preferable.
• Have excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Have a functional knowledge of exercise machine use.
• Can maintain the exercise environment's sanitary condition.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift up to 70 lbs.
• Requires reaching and kneeling for extended periods of time
• Must be able to demonstrate proper lifting techniques on all equipment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
