The Fitness Facility Attendant assists the Fitness Manager and Assistant Fitness Manager in ensuring that New Haven Parks & Recreation delivers a high quality fitness experience to all members.
Essential Functions
- Supervise day-to-day operations of the gym.
- Assists with maintaining a clean, well-managed, fitness area, equipment, and recreation room, including some custodial duties.
- Demonstrate friendly and proper supervision of attendants, members, and fitness volunteers.
- Is the point of reference for fitness expertise within the facility
- Assist with maintaining a clean, well-managed, fitness area, equipment, and recreation room and report/address problems
- Maintain a proficient level of CivicRec software knowledge for customer service and program management, including pulling rosters, managing minimum enrollments, creating monthly membership reports, etc.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
Education - Work in related field and/or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Experience -
Ability to assist members and provide sound customer service is required. Knowledge of how to use fitness equipment and facilities management practices. Computer and communication skills are required.
Certifications - Successful completion of First Aid and CPR certification are required and training available through Parks and Recreation Department if needed. Holding a nationally recognized certification from an accredited organization in the health and fitness industry is beneficial.
Physical Requirements
Able to handle up to 20 lbs. and comfortable with an active work environment.
Frequent standing, and walking.

Additional Information
Regular part-time. Attendants can expect to work anywhere from 15-20 hours per week. Shifts vary and can include early morning, daytime, evening and weekends. In addition, coverage may be required for special events and rentals.
