Reporting Relationship:

This is a highly visible role reporting directly to the Vice President of Finance. This role supports General Ledger & Financial reporting functions for Vertex Aerospace LLC, Aerospace and Defense Services (ADS).

Principal Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

The Financial Analyst is a full-time, professional role providing a range of financial support to the growth and effective management of Vertex’s ADS segment. The Analyst is responsible for consolidated management reporting of ADS, as well as financial analysis, and completing ad hoc financial analysis. The role requires the ability to work effectively under tight deadlines, extreme attention to detail, and consistently accurate, high-quality financial analyses.

Management Reporting

  • Support ADS’ internal management reporting process
  • Responsible for maintaining internal models and trend analyses
  • Support ADS’ monthly forecast and annual reporting processes

Financial Analysis and Reporting

  • Conduct analyses and reporting for support functions including, monthly financial analysis, forecasting, variance analysis, pipeline analysis, and graphical summaries of business unit financial performance
  • Support segment analyses and reporting, including the annual segment budgeting process
  • Segment functions planning and forecasting as part of annual corporate-wide planning processes.
  • Support the implementation of new financial reporting and roll out of the OneStream planning system
  • Other ad-hoc financial analyses

Financial Processes Improvement, Ad Hoc Reporting and Analyses, and Special Projects

  • Manage or perform periodic or ad hoc financial data analysis, queries, reconciliations, and reports as needed from ADS’s senior management or to satisfy internal or external audit requests;
  • Support initiatives targeted at financial processes improvement and the implementation of changes to achieve efficiencies and the company’s objectives in the areas of project billing, contract compliance and reporting, indirect cost recovery, financial reporting, and analysis
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned as business needs evolve.

Professional Requirements, Qualifications & Desired Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BA or BS) from an accredited college or university in Accounting/Finance and 4+ years of directly related work experience
  • Experience in US Government Cost Accounting principles and/or indirect rate models.
  • Government contracts experience is highly preferred
  • Highly organized with a proven ability to multitask Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills – variance analysis, reconciliations
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills required – pivot tables, V-Lookup, and graph production – the ability to create and analyze a large data set
  • Tenacious professional able to work effectively and efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment maintaining a high level of personal integrity.
  • Working knowledge of MS PowerPivot and Power BI preferred.
  • Prior SAP experience is strongly preferred
  • Attention to detail who can monitor the monthly close process
