Position Summary: Under minimal supervision, the Field Service Engineer is responsible for providing customer and technical support for a broad range of installed systems that may range from basic to complex. This position will service and support existing customers by responding to service calls and emails. Scope of work includes technical assistance, systems checkout of new and existing installations, and troubleshooting associated with installed Motion Control and Automation Systems. This person will be accountable for providing quality service to all Lenze customers in assigned tasks, while always upholding Lenze values, with a goal of meeting or exceeding Customer expectations.

Location: Local to Atlanta, GA
Potential Earnings: Dependent on experience and location
Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Responds to all types of customer service requests, scheduled maintenance calls, and emergency or after-hours calls on a timely basis. This can include communications by email, phone or onsite.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, replace defective parts and debug a substantial variety of systems for more complex problems.
  • Complete necessary repairs and replacements as needed. (May require originality and ingenuity in some situations.)
  • May include up to 70% of traveling/onsite. Some overnight travel is required.
  • Always acts as “our customer’s best service provider.”
  • Complete accurate and detailed service reports for customers and Lenze in a timely manner to allow for accurate invoicing and job cost tracking.
  • Execute all service calls in accordance with Federal, State, and local regulations as well as company health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Keep up to date and informed on all company products, services, and policies.
  • Always presents a professional image of Lenze. (In appearance and behavior)
  • Seek opportunities to promote the services offered by Lenze.
  • Communicate and work with other team members consistently to improve overall operations for Lenze.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested or requires.

Qualifications Include:
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical/electronic engineering preferred.
  • 5 years of field and remote service experience with automation products and industrial applications.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.
  • Advanced technical skills and experience related to motion control and automation systems.
  • Advanced programming skills and proven ability to troubleshoot problems and look for solutions.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics.
  • Familiarity with IEC 61131 programming languages.
  • Experience in one or more of the following industries preferred: electronic, electric motors, PLC, automation controls.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude (e.g., works well with a variety of hand and power tools such as drill, screwdriver, wire stripper, hacksaw, crimper, multi-meter, computer, etc.)
  • Exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to anticipate and meet the needs/wants of the customer without being prompted.
  • Must be a self-starter and work well with minimal supervision.
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Organizational skills and ability to handle multiple service needs simultaneously.
  • Highly proficient computer skills including familiarity with MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel)
