Translucent Services is looking for a full time Field Engineer. As a Field Engineer you will provide onsite installation services to government and commercial customers in the Cincinnati Area and across the US. You will work closely with support teams, customers, and account teams to install and upgrade data storage platforms such as Pure Storage, Cohesity, Qumulo and VAST.
This position requires traveling to customer locations with 200 miles of Cincinnati, OH and will require regular air travel within the United States.
Translucent Services provides installation and professional services at commercial and government sites. An active DoD Top Secret, TS, or preferable Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information, TS/SCI, clearance is a plus, but not required. Previous military experience is also a plus.
Main responsibilities:
- On-site installation and upgrade of 1 to 4U equipment
- On-site and remote software setup and upgrades
- Document any issues or next steps for the customer and account teams to follow
- Providing on site walk throughs to educate the end-user on their new hardware and software
- Highly motivated with minimal supervision
- Ability to travel multiple times per week throughout the US to visit customer sites and data centers
Job Requirements:
- Knowledge of Linux OS
- Knowledge of server hardware
- Experience working in IT
- Ability to travel multiple times per week
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Excellent communication skills
- Customer service orientation
Preferred Qualifications:
- Current and/or former military
- Experience working with government agencies
- System Administrator/System Engineer experience
- Storage Administrator/Storage Engineer experience
- Data Center or smart hands experience
- Linux Administration certificate
- U.S. Government clearance
